Amazing Advice

I was once again completely floored by a quote I found… from a famous person… who had been dead for a couple hundred years.

We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.  – Galileo Galilei

I believe that we have all experienced the truth of this quote in our lives, the challenge is to deliberately experience this … and to use it for good.

Does that make sense?

We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves. Galileo Galilei

We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.

Do you remember when “S_it Happens” was a really popular saying?

Think about that.

Think about the community wide…  nationwide… worldwide acceptance that “S_it Happens” …  the all time, universal saying that tells us “we have no control or influence over our experience” … in essense… Why Try?

That phrase taught a whole generation an easy answer.  That quote, that amazingly simple “reason” defined experiences for people and they didn’t look any further.

If we don’t look further… if we don’t understand a lesson in our experiences than we are going to have the same experiences over and over again… because we don’t know any better.

Because, as Galileo put it, we have not discovered the answer within ourselves.

“S_it” does not happen…. We Allow It To Happen. Nothing happens without our attention to it… without our deliberate attention (which may manifest as inattention to other things) nothing happens.  Literally. Philosophically. Physically. Emotionally.

Sometimes… the easy answer helps with the immediate anxiety of having to deal with a loss or challenge, but the easy answer is usually like a piece of gum. Tastes great for about 2 minutes… then it tastes like a piece of nothing but we keep chewing it.. until we throw it out.  Or … some people get rid of their gum and replace it with a new one as soon as the taste is gone and plow through a whole pack in 10 minutes.

Learn… from within.

Understand.

If you have been doing something for a period of time… and you are not satisfied with the results.  Pause.  Adjust… Experience… Ask yourself, “Will doing the same exact thing get me the same results?  Or will it get me a new result?”

Learn from with in.

And Make Today Amazing!
